How Skin Resurfacing Works

Traditional skin resurfacing can be accomplished in a number of different ways, but the primary goal is to remove the outer layer of skin. This not only removes old, dead skin cells but also stimulates the growth of new skin cells and collagen, which plumps up your skin and fills in fine lines.

Skin resurfacing can even remove age spots, correct uneven skin tone, repair sun-damaged skin, and repair acne scars. Often, the damage that we see exists only on the top layers of the skin. If we can go a little deeper, we can get past them, and the skin will heal healthier and stronger. 

How Sentient Tixel Works 

Sentient Tixel uses a titanium tip applicator, heat, and motion to repair skin without lasers, radiation, ultrasound, or needles. It pairs heat energy with mechanical energy to create tiny channels in the skin, which in turn stimulates new collagen formation. It also gently exfoliates the skin. 

The tip of the device features tiny pyramids heated to 400℃ during treatment. Each pyramid touches a tiny portion of skin at a time, and the device sends a uniform heat treatment down and into the skin in a focused, fast, short burst. 

Most people experience very little pain and are able to return to their normal activities right away. If you use full heat settings, you will have small brown dots on your face for a few days. We also ask you to abstain from being in the sun, using skin products, or using make-up for 24 hours. You may use a light moisturizer, sunscreen, and makeup after 24 hours.

How many treatments does it take to see results? 

Most people see the best results with 3 treatments scheduled four weeks apart. After that, you may need one to two maintenance treatments within the year. However, your mileage may vary.

People with acne scarring may require more treatments, as may individuals who can only tolerate lower heat settings.
